OWAN WEST CHAIRMAN MEETS COUNCIL WORKERS, ASSURES STAFF OF WELFARE, PROMISES ACTION ON SALARY ARREARS.<\/p>\n
The Executive Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Aikpokpo Enahoro, KSC, has assured the council workforce that their welfare remains a top priority of his administration.<\/p>\n
The Chairman gave the assurance during a meeting with the entire workforce at the Council Hall, Sabongida-Ora. The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Thomas Ale, the Secretary to the Local Government, Madam Angelina Aigbokhai, the Chief of Staff, Ifijeh Augustine, the Head of Local Government Administration, Sunday Henry Unuigbkhai, Heads of Departments, the NULGE Chairman, Comr. Destiny Iria Ohilebo, and workers across various departments.<\/p>\n
In his address, the NULGE Chairman raised the issue of salary arrears owed from the previous administration and appealed to the Chairman to prioritise the welfare and working conditions of employees.<\/p>\n
The Head of Local Government Administration commended the workers for their patience and commitment, expressing confidence that the new administration would address the matter.<\/p>\n
Responding, Hon. Aikpokpo Enahoro appreciated the workers for their dedication despite prevailing challenges. He assured them that their welfare was of utmost importance and encouraged diligence, punctuality, and commitment to duty, noting that hard work would always be recognised and rewarded.<\/p>\n
On the salary arrears, the Chairman promised to carefully examine the issue and work toward a solution, citing his recent intervention in the payment of casual workers’ salaries as proof of his administration’s readiness to address workers’ concerns.<\/p>\n
The Chairman also disclosed plans to conduct an urgent staff audit to ascertain the actual number of workers on the council’s payroll.<\/p>\n
He, however, warned against absenteeism and neglect of duty, stressing that his administration would not tolerate a situation where workers abandon their responsibilities while expecting salaries. He emphasised accountability, productivity, and value for public resources.<\/p>\n
The meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to open communication, improved productivity, and effective service delivery to the people of Owan West.<\/p>\n
