Ozubulu, Ekwusigo local govt Area,Anambra State –The Anti-Corruption Awareness Organization of Nigeria, Anambra State Command, has successfully rescued a young girl and apprehended a suspected kidnapper during a security operation in Ozubulu, within Ekwusigo Local Government Area. The operation also underscores ACAON’s call for the establishment of a robust Independent Public Complaints, Financial Crimes, and Anti-Corruption Commission in the state.

The Lady that was kidnapped;
The incident occurred on 16 February at about 7:00 a.m., when ACAON’s Local Government Coordinator for Ekwusigo LGA received intelligence about suspicious activity inside a bush in Eziora community, Ozubulu. Acting swiftly, operatives apprehended a suspected kidnapper and successfully rescued a young girl found with the suspect. The girl was immediately suggested to be taken to a hospital for medical attention and support.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspect claimed to be from Ogidi, while the rescued girl was not an indigene of the Ozubulu. The prompt action of ACAON operatives prevented what could have escalated into a tragic incident, ensuring the safety of the community.
Following proper procedure, the suspect was handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ozubulu, for further investigation and legal action.
Speaking on the intervention, SCPN Rebecca U. Ndubueze, State Director of ACAON Anambra State Command, commended the operatives’ swift action and emphasized the organization’s ongoing commitment to community security, grassroots vigilance, and anti-corruption advocacy. She highlighted that ACAON’s operations at the grassroots level are crucial for driving the effectiveness of the proposed Public Complaints, Financial Crimes, and Anti-Corruption Commission across Anambra State.
The organization also called on the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to support ACAON by providing an operational office in Awka, enabling the organization to work more effectively alongside law enforcement and regulatory agencies in eradicating crime, corruption, and financial malpractice.
ACAON reaffirmed its dedication to justice, transparency, community safety, and the eradication of corruption and criminality at all levels of society.
