OWAN WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN CELEBRATE GIRLS AT THE 2026 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD
The Executive Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Aikpokpo Enahoro, today joins the global community in celebrating the girl child on the occasion of the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child.
In his message, the Chairman celebrated every girl child in Owan West, Edo State, and Nigeria at large, describing the girl child as the hope of every great nation. He emphasized that no nation can attain lasting greatness while neglecting the rights, dignity, and potential of its girls.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” the Chairman described it as a clarion call to protect the dignity, rights, and future of every girl child. He noted that there is more to the girl child than early marriage, stressing that her rights must be protected and a good future guaranteed for her.
The Chairman called on parents, traditional leaders, religious organizations, and all stakeholders to protect and nurture the girl child, emphasizing that an empowered girl is the hope of a brighter future.
“Let us all work together to ensure that every girl child is given the opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed. When we invest in our girls, we invest in the future of our society,” he added.
The Chairman concluded by wishing all girls in Owan West, Edo State, and Nigeria a happy and memorable International Day of the Girl Child.
